For the last year, there has been a large effort to reform LA’s Charter, which is the guiding document for the City. Streets for All weighed in with a handful of proposals to improve project delivery for safe street infrastructure.

Although not everything we advocated for was included, Measure LA and Measure PRK are both strong steps towards building a more resilient City with people first streets and parks.

Measure LA will reform Public Works delivery in LA. In LA, our streets are falling apart, and we have multiple bureaus and board members in a strange inefficient web of oversight. Measure LA formalizes a CIP process (Capital Improvement Plan) to put all infrastructure projects in the same pipeline, and it puts a single director in charge of the Department of Public Works instead of the current fragmented governance. This will massively help with transparency, efficiency, and accountability.

Measure PRK will double the minimum amount allocated to LA parks annually. LA has significantly underfunded parks over the last few decades, and it means we have one of the worst park scores in the nation. Measure PRK will address this long term funding gap.
